True measure

How can we truly measure our accomplishments at work? How can we measure our accomplishments at home and with other people. Well why should we worry about measuring anything like that. I like to worry more about what is going on and how I can help people better themselves. It is funny because I see my evaluations and see how I was evaluated and everyone can't believe it. Sometimes personal feelings get in the way of the truth. You move on and know that inside Karma does work. Someone above is watching.

Living the dream

I am just sitting here underway living the dream. I truly love this place I get to go to breakfast and than find out that I am staying till lunch. Joyous times.

Things are so boring that I have nothing really to do right now. I should work on my resume and courses that I need for when I retire.

Yes I am going crazy.

06 December 2008

Underway halfway

As I sit here I think about how much I love being underway but hate being here sometimes. The command can be irrating but when you are stuck out here with them it makes it worse. No escaping your boss.

The seas have been rough so it has been real fun with that almost walking on walls this morning. Than stupid me recommends that we do a reenlisment on the Foscle and the CO really likes to make sure that people get what they want for reenlistments. Well let's say I got a little saltwater shower this morning. Oh what a joy that was.

I do love my job though, helping people and working with others who help people. A true joy.

01 December 2008

Just another underway

Well we are underway again. I used to truly love these times but lately it is more of a chore than anything else.

I am not sure if it is the time or just the job I am dealing with now.

Oh well it is late and I am tired.

23 November 2008

Osaka

Oh do I love the Navy and the places I have been. I keep cursing the amount of underway time I have had since I have been in Japan not letting me see anything. Heck I have been to all but one of the island so far and I was hoping to we would go there this winter.

I have been to Tokyo, Yokohama, Osaka and Kyoto all the major cities in Japan. What else is there?

Just thought I would say that.

17 November 2008

I really should blog more

Ok, I am actually going to talk about today. I really hate doing this just in case some one I work with or knows reads this.

It is funny when someone starts to care and yells you about a problem you have been trying to get fixed for a while. I am like if you actually cared I wouldn't have this problem now. That is the way things go in the Military just wait to they transfer and hope for something better.

The other wonderful time is if you have watched Carrier you know about how people get in trouble and they have to go in front of the Chief's. Well I had to that today since I mentor someone who got in trouble for disrespect. He is a good worker but he needs to learn some respect. I don't get a long with the people he disrespected but I still respect them because of their rank and one of them is my Mentor. You don't have to like someone to respect them and their views on things.

Ok I am done with that part. We had an award ceremony for a pilot and the crew along with the Air Controller who guided them in. The thick and skinny is that they lost gyrostablization control and had to land immediately. Luckily due to fast action they were able to. If not everything we have practiced about helo crashing on deck wouldn't have been in vein. OH YES I am on the team that teaches people how to fight a HELO CRASH.

Which brings me to think about all the CLASS A Mishaps that I have seen or been involved in. CLASS A Mishap is more than a million dollars of damage or loss of life. First there was the flooding of the submarine while we were still submerged, that was fun. Than there was the news report that came out about a month before the accident. Two ships colliding in the middle of the Persian Gulf and luckily the Aircraft Carrier was in not in the proper set up. For some reason they had their evelators down when they are normally up. That only means the side of the ship I was on wasn't completely scrapped off, putting me with a huge body of sea water and a lot of electricity. Oh what fun that would have been.

Than there was the near death experiences the one where we lost depth control and were going down backwards in the submarine. There was the time we lost dept control again and they were screaming at me during a drill to get propulsion back. I guess I didn't realize nobody relieved me and I was supposed to get the shaft moving again. The time I thought I was working and a deenergized system on to find out that 440V was there, that was really fun since it went from one arm to the other arm and of course my heart was in the pathway. Nothing too bad it only stopped for a few seconds. Oh my favorite of all times was the USS Alaska. Imagine me inside of a torpedo tube which is about less than 2 feet in diameter with no light and no protection except a wood cover. The submarine starts moving because we are in drydock and there was an earthquake , so two things could have happen. One is that the sub could have dropped off the blocks and the other is that the wall could have moved up and let seawater in and once that happen the wall would have gone away. I would have shot out of the torpedo tube the opposite direction that it is designed to. Well the only thing that did happen is I got out of the tube and a bunch of shipyard bubbas were standing around. I shout earthquake and they start running like rats in water, while I stand there waiting for the aftershocks.

Yes for all my near misses and stupid thing that I did. I can figure there could have been worse.

Joys of Kanji

Well I have a little story to tell you about Kanji. It is one of the symbols that is used in the Japanese language. I was at Matsu my favorite Beef Bowl place getting a take out order when I hit what I thought was gydon which is a beef bowl. Well I ended up getting grilled beef instead which is really good also but I truly love the beef bowl. It is so funny shave beef that is boiled with onions and not much else and it is a huge hit here in Japan.

As I sit at my favorite spot I have been thinking about how Isolated I am out here. I get that way when I am away from everyone I start working and get so wrapped up I barely talk to anyone. I think I do that a lot and it is very difficult for people around me. It will be over soon.

P.S. I absolutely love my MacBook Air(MBA). Best thing I have bought in a long time besides my camera.

03 November 2008

Worst Blogger

Ok I must bet the worst blogger since I am hardly post anything. I hope I will be better with my new laptop since I take it everywhere with me. I have found my favorite spot right near the Marina. I love sitting at the gazebo and looking at the water on my computer sucking in fresh air.

The little things in life make me happy.

To Anonymous

Thanks for your kind comment - I appreciate your concern. Life is actually pretty good here even though my husband is stationed 5,000 miles away. I have a beautiful new house, great friends, and a wonderful, supportive family...what more could a girl ask for? I've put the link to my journal in the title, in case you're interested in reading more.

18 September 2008

Keep rolling

We are still underway just constantly going and never know what we are doing because it keeps changes. Yes the good times are rolling.

Really miss my wife and can't wait to see her.

14 September 2008

Fun times keep rolling

Well I can't wait to leave this place.

I just don't know what to say. I am losing it.

07 September 2008

As time moves on

Well it is later in the day now and I got out of bed around noon after it felt like someone was sitting on my chest. The joys of a sinus cold that moves to your chest. Oh what it feels like to get old.

Well I am getting ready to get underway tomorrow for fun times. I will let you know how it goes.

It's my birthday

Well it my birthday and I am on my new laptop. Apple Macbook Air.

Oh fun times.

04 September 2008

Wife is nuts

Yes my wife is nuts anyways even if I woke her up in the middle of the night. It is not like I get a lot of times to call her and she didn't have to work the next day. I was sober too. LOL

I can't wait to get back home and get out of this craziness.

Japan is wonderful the schedule is not too bad since gas prices are through the roof.

30 August 2008

Meeting old friends

It is strange in a lot of ways seeing people you haven't seen a very long time. Well I just saw him 6 months ago but I didn't think it was him. Last time we talked was about 6 years ago. I was just talking to my sister and she told me that I was not crazy, that an old family friend was in Japan.

Than my wonderful Japanese bike seen in early pictures hit a really bad windstorm and got bent over which is not bad but the front tire stayed up so they tire is shot and since the price for a new one would be about 50% of the bike price it was not worth fixing. I did buy a new bike to replace it and my wife went nuts. Oh well I need a form of transportation.

Life is good again on the homefront.

23 August 2008

Been a long time

Well it has been several weeks sine I posted my last blog. I don't know why I have so much to say but not really up to saying it anywhere. I guess that is just me.

Life is good just waiting to get out of this place.

Mick

14 August 2008

Crazy Week

Well it has been a really crazy week. I hope to never have one like this one again. Just plan everything that you would do in a month then do it in a week.

I guess it won't be too much longer for me out here which is a good thing.

I am writing crazy things, I know.

09 August 2008

Bad news

Well it is bad news time finding out that my odds of making Chief is really bad. Oh well sometimes you have to learn from your past and make things better for everyone else.

Not much else to say except I should be home in 10 months.

01 August 2008

Losing track

You know you are getting old when you lose track of the time. Oh well.

Well life is alright we are back in port and an old friend has arrived onboard, which is good because we are at the same stage in life with the same amount of kids. I knew him from my one of previous commands so it is refreshing.

It is very difficult not to see the wife but with all the anxiety about the results I haven't had much time to think about it. I feel like I am in a Harry Potter book sometimes the way we act.

Not much else to say.

22 July 2008

Just trudging along

Well we are underway again and I am working to the wee hours of the night trying to get caught up on work. Oh well someone has to do the dirty work.

Not much else to talk about just having fun leaving comments on my wife's blog.

If you read this please let me know you read this so I know how many people read this.

21 July 2008

Korea Again

Well we are just wrapping another adventure to Korea and it is always a shopping time for most people. Since I have been in for a while and have bought everything I will ever need I don't do too much. If anyone wants Mink blankets please let me know since Korea has them everywhere.

Then you don't go to bars because they are all Juicy Girls, buy me drink girls, who are there just to juice you up. LOL .

Oh well just another port visit and a few days closer to get backing to California.

13 July 2008

Kyoto Trip

We went on a tour to Kyoto Japan today and I had an outstanding time. I really don't know what to say except we went to see the Shogun's Castle and Buddist Temple.

Really not much to say at this time just thought I would put in that I went out on a trip.

12 July 2008

Engagement Port

Well we pulled into Maizuru Japan which is a port for JMSDF (Joint Maritime Self Defense Force). It is in the Kyoto Prefecture which is like a state.

We had a hike today with several of the Japanese who are in the Navy up a hill to an observatory that overlooks the entire bay which is very beautiful. Japan is such a nice country with a lot of beautiful landscapes.

Tomorrow we are heading to Kyoto on a tour. Kyoto was the capital of Japan so this should be lots of fun. I will try to upload pictures when I can get them downloaded from my camera.

Things are going well but separation sucks.

07 July 2008

Getting ready for Shipmate

Well I am just sitting on the ship waiting for shipmate. (Shipmate is a type of Shore Patrol except worn in Civilian clothes and just to assist not to arrest.) Blowing my nose because I got some type of cold.

Things are going well except I never seem have enough time to call anyone back home. I should take sometime from work during the week to contact my family but I feel so drawn to get my job done.

I was driving Command Master Chief's beast today, a van that he bought from an officer that transferred. He let me use it to pick up his referigerator for his office, which I have a key for and access all the time. Another the refer is like for him and I. I just can't wait to be able to cold bottled water anytime I want.

I am still waiting for the CPO results to post. This is like the longest month.

04 July 2008

Fun on duty

Well I know now why I don't drink anymore. I blame it all on my protege' who's husband is stationed with me. We went out last night with a fellow NC and she wanted to have some margaritas. Well I am glad today is such a dead day since I am feeling dead.

Things are going really well just waiting for the Chief's results.

Not much else going on but I will give more information soon.

29 June 2008

Japanese Arcades

Japan has these games which require playing cards so you get the playing cards as you play so you can play your players. They have Soccer and Baseball games among the other card games that you see. Football is pretty fun becuase it has information about the players on them.

Not much else going on except it is raining.

28 June 2008

A little better

OK so we supposedly went underway. I don't call getting underway for two days to go to Sasebo to spend four days there to just turn around and head straight back up an underway. It really make put thing in perspective again. Going to sea for me is one of the most soothing things for me. A sailor belongs a ship and a ship belongs at sea.

Well I am counting down since I only have 11 months left till I leave Japan and go back to my family. Hopefully to my new little car if it is done by then. Yes a 6'1" man in little Smart Car, or as I like to call it a clown car.

I am also in constant antipisipation of the Chief's results since I know several people reviewing my package this year. So wish me luck.

11 June 2008

Dying over here

It is really hard sometimes being alone and in foreign place. It is even harder when you don't have time to unwind and enjoy things. Leave was too short and I missed my wife the day I started leave because I knew I was leaving again.

18 May 2008

Almost home

It has been a long time underway and there is light at the end of the tunnel. Just have channel fever right now.

Hope everyone is watching Carrier.

27 March 2008

Long time

Well it has been a long time since I have posted on here. Well if you are underway and as busy as I am you wouldn't have much time to write anything. Plus if you really know me you know I hate to write.

Well that was enough for me.

15 February 2008

How do I love you?

In honor of this day set aside to celebrate Love (and to fill the coffers of Hallmark), I give you my Top 10 Reasons I Love My Husband:

10. His love of all things barbecue - seriously, I think he'd BBQ scrambled eggs if he could
9. The fact that he owns more pairs of shoes than I do - both work and non-work
8. He never gets mad when I buy something expensive
7. He doesn't believe me when he asks what's wrong and I say, "Nothing. I'm fine."
6. He gave up a week of his life to go to New Orleans with me to gut and rebuild houses with the Junior League
5. He looks so handsome in his uniform - not the Uncle Elmer overall outfit with the funky belt (why???), but the camis, the dress blues, and the dress dinner blues
4. He never complains when I spend time with the foster kids that I volunteer with, even when it conflicts with his birthday or our anniversary
3. He coaches youth sports even without kids of our own
2. He's such a wonderful cat daddy (even to Dave who persists in growling every time he comes in the room)

And, most importantly of all...
1. Because he loves me unconditionally, including all of my bad habits (most of which he doesn't think are bad at all), and has made me believe in "forever" again

Happy First Married Valentine's Day - I miss you!

05 January 2008

Come home, your kittens miss you

Dear Daddy,

It is not much fun at home right now. Mommy keeps telling me to get off the coffee table (and the kitchen counters and the bedroom dresser) so that I can't demonstrate my superior jumping skills for Dave. Would you please let her know how important this is for my development? Also, she still isn't giving me as many kitty treats as Dave gets. (It's not my fault that he eats faster than me and tries to help me finish mine, too!) Finally, can you please remind Mommy to buy more kitty litter on her way home? (I think I need a box of my very own!)

I miss you,
Harry

p.s. Abby continues to growl when she sees me...would it be OK if I sat on her?

working on the resume

Well since I am close to getting out I don't know what to do about my resume. I want to make sure it is good.

I am so not tired because I took a huge nap.

03 January 2008

Being bad

I know I have been bad about posting things on here but hopefully I can post more this year. I guess we will have to wait and see.
